I am an author of nine books of poetry, several plays and children's books, two memoirs, and the editor of several anthologies of Native American literature. As a musician, I have produced seven music and spoken word albums. I am also a painter and am writing a musical play. I am a Chancellor of the American Academy of Poets, founding Board member and Chair of the Native Arts & Cultures Foundation, and the 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States. I live in Tulsa where I am a Tulsa Artist Fellow.
